A note about your electricity bill

Your municipal bill carries your full name, your physical address and your account number. We treat it as the most sensitive thing you send us. Specifically:

3. Our lawful basis

We rely on your consent, which you give by ticking the box on our forms. Where a project proceeds, we also rely on the performance of our contract with you, and on legal obligation for records we are required to keep — tax records, and the compliance documentation attached to your installation.

You may withdraw consent at any time. If you withdraw it before a project starts, we will delete everything. If you withdraw it during or after a project, we must retain the records the law requires us to keep, and we will tell you which ones and why.

4. Who else sees your information

We share the minimum necessary, with these categories of recipient:

We do not sell your information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not add you to marketing lists you did not ask to join.

5. Where it is stored

Our website and uploaded documents are hosted in South Africa. Our email is provided by a service that may process messages on servers outside South Africa. Where information crosses a border, POPIA section 72 requires comparable protection, and we rely on providers who commit to that contractually.

6. How long we keep it

8. Security

The site runs over HTTPS. Forms are protected against cross-site request forgery and automated abuse. Uploaded documents are validated by file type, stored outside the web root with restrictive permissions, and are not publicly reachable. Access to project records is limited to the people working on your project.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach occurs that creates a real risk to you, POPIA section 22 requires us to notify both you and the Information Regulator, and we will.

9. Cookies

This site sets one cookie, and only when you use a form: a session cookie that protects the form against cross-site request forgery. It expires when you close your browser. We run no advertising trackers and no third-party analytics. If we add analytics later, we will update this notice and ask first where the law requires it.

10. Children

Our services are sold to property owners, and we do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18. If you believe we have, tell us and we will delete it.

11. Changes

If we change this notice we will update the date above. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will tell people whose information we hold rather than relying on you to re-read the page.
